Building a cargo plane
with an 8-foot wingspan
In this second phase, students delve into the heart of aerospace engineering through a hands-on project: the design and construction of a remote-controlled cargo plane.
Guided by qualified instructors, students will explore the fundamentals of aircraft structure, aerodynamics, aeronautical materials, and the basics of 3D modeling and printing.
This practical, collaborative project is designed to stimulate critical thinking, scientific discipline, and ingenuity. It allows students to turn theoretical concepts into tangible achievements and develop essential skills for tomorrow's careers.
36 hours of instruction delivered by engineers and model airplane specialists, with the participation of university students.
Spring session (Saturdays): 9 sessions of 4 hours

Inter-School
Competition
Students will take on a challenge as thrilling as it is demanding: building an 8 x 9-foot remote-controlled cargo plane as part of an inter-school competition at the end of the school year. The winning team will take home the prestigious FORTIS prize, along with a $5,000 bursary.
Using plans specially designed and tested by Aviation Connection, students will assemble their model and fine-tune its reliability and performance through a blend of creativity, logic, and engineering skills.
Final projects will be presented to a panel of judges and evaluated according to predefined criteria. Each team will present its entry in a competition where innovation and teamwork are what it takes to stand out.
