Nimalraj Thavarajah
SME Test Specialist – Aftermarket Services
CAE Inc.
Nimalraj holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Laval University in Quebec. He joined CAE in 2018 as a Test Specialist for flight simulators within the Aftermarket Services group. Flight simulation is a fascinating world of its own, with a mission to make the skies safer through tailored training for every pilot.
In his role, Nimalraj has the privilege of traveling across the globe, representing CAE and collaborating with aviation professionals, customers, and authorities during simulator updates. Test Specialists ensure that each simulator performs exactly like the aircraft it replicates, and it’s presented to customers for acceptance and to authorities for certification, ensuring there are no defects that could compromise pilot training.
A lifelong aviation enthusiast, Nimalraj earned his basic pilot licence as a teenager through the Royal Canadian Air Cadets program. Since 2008, he has served in the Canadian Armed Forces as part of the Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC). Now holding the rank of Captain, he takes pride in mentoring Canadian youth through their journey in the Canadian Cadet Organizations. Aviation and youth development are causes that resonate deeply with him, and he’s proud to be part of Aviation Connection to share his passion with budding aviation and STEM enthusiasts.
